I painted Smiley after years of watching this family
that was part of the rehabilitation in California to
return the Otter population that had almost disappeared.
These Family otters are alive and multiply now, and I have been photographing these gorgeous, funny otters for more than 15 years.
Smily is one of the older males smiling at me that day, and I am blessed
with capturing his spirit with this painting.
